Opinions and Persuasions: Ch. 9

This chapter is about public opinions which is, according to the book, “the sum of individual opinions on an issue affecting those individuals” or “a collection of views held by persons interested in the subject.” This just means that its the feeling they have on a subject that affects them.

Opinion leaders are people who are catalysts for the opinion. They are usually very interested in the subject, better informed, an avid consumer of mass media, and good at getting others to take action.

Persuasion is also apart of this Chapter. the book talks about how persuasion is the main part of PR. How it is used to neutralize hostile opinions, crystallize latent opinions, and conserve favorable opinion.  Working with a celebrity to get you message out is a very popular way of using persuasion. When the public sees someone they look up to using a company they want to use it to.
