To PR or not to PR.. that is the question: ch. 3

This chapter talks about ethics in PR. THere are three belief systems that determine how people act. They are Absulute, which is believing everything is either right or wrong; existential, which is wanthing to keep a balance in life instead of the two extremes; and situational, whish is making a desicion based on the situation it is dealing with. In PR you have to decide how to veiw the situation, that’s why I believe that situational is the best approach to use.. OBVIOUSLY!!

To me is seems like it is sometimes hard to be completely ethical in PR because you want to do everything you can to make your company look good, and sometimes that could be hard to do. I’m not saying go all crazy with it like in the movie, Wag The Dog. But a little twist here and there.

Moving on, the book also brings up the fact that there are many PR groups or organizations for PR professional and that they all have a code on conduct which clearifies how you should approach the public. Like don’t disclose information, or avoid conflicts of interest and things like that.

The line of ethics is getting blurred everyday especially in today’s world. Some times its hard to tell what is real.. It just goes to show you, you can’t belive everything you hear.
